O Rei João III Sobieski, da República das Duas Nações, nasceu há 392 anos
- After World War II, a statue of John III Sobieski was "repatriated" to Gdańsk from the Ukrainian city of Lviv (Polish: Lwów, formerly in the Second Polish Republic). The statue overlooks a little park at the old Gdańsk City Hall museum.
- After the battle of Vienna, the newly delineated constellation of Scutum (Latin for shield) was originally named Scutum Sobiescianum by the astronomer Johannes Hevelius, in honor of John III Sobieski. While there are a few stars named after non-astronomers, this is the only constellation named after a real non-astronomer, moreover, one who was still alive when the constellation was named.
- A legend of the origins of the bagel refers to John III Sobieski as the king to whom a Jewish baker gave the very first bagel in commemoration of his victory at Vienna in 1683. The round shape of the bagel was said to resemble the stirrups of Sobieski and his mounted warriors.
- The EuroCity rail lines running between Vienna and Warsaw (lines 104/105) are named after Sobieski.
- There is a modern proposition from non-Polish European newspapers to name the A2 highway in Poland after Sobieski.
- There is a vodka brand called Sobieski, after His Majesty John III

nossa Viena cumprimenta,
sua corrente de prata,
através de todas as terras
você alegra o coração
com suas belas praias.
Longe da Floresta Negra
você se apressa para o mar
dá a sua bênção
para tudo.
A leste de fluxo,
acolhe seus irmãos,
Uma imagem de paz
de todos os tempos!
Os antigos castelos são visíveis
de baixo para o alto,
agredecendo seu sorrisos
de suas íngremes
colinas escarpadas,
e vistas das montanhas
espelham em suas ondas dançantes.
As sereias do leito do rio,
e a mão valente protege
nossa pátria!
Portanto, vamos estar unidos,
como irmãos juntos, em fileiras fortes,
felizes em tempos difíceis;
Corajoso, quando o perigo nos ameaça,
Casa na praia do Danúbio,
são o coração da nossa banda,
Para ti de todos os tempos
Bom e sangue são consagrados!
O barco viaja nas ondas tão calmamente,
ainda à noite,
e adoro assistir essa cena.
O marinheiro cochicha no ouvido do amante,
Barco, levante vela sempre!
Sangue jovem
coragem fresca,
O quão feliz,
ele une o riso!
Amor e paixão
enche o peito -
é o maior no mundo.
Seja qual for o dia
pode nos trazer,
Lealdade e unidade
e nos protege o tempo todo!
